30 September 2012
30 September is International Translators’ Day. Not many people know that this date was carefully chosen: it is believed that this is the anniversary of the death of the patron saint of translators, St. Jerome. It is he who is credited with translating the Bible into Latin.
This festival was inaugurated in 1991 by the International Federation of Translators. This year, Translators’ Day was celebrated with the motto “Translation – a link in the cultural chain”.
